Role Purpose

Operationalize data governance policies, processes, and controls to ensure consistent execution across the enterprise.

Role Description

Data Governance Operation Role is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating the enterprise data governance framework. This role ensures that data across the organization is well-defined, trusted, secure, compliant, and fit for business use by establishing governance processes, overseeing execution, and coordinating across business, IT, and data stakeholders.

The role acts as the operational backbone of data governance, translating policy and strategy into repeatable, measurable, and sustainable processes.

Role Responsibilities

  • Act as primary point of contact for data governance operations.
  • Define, maintain and documented data governance framework, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Establish and run end-to-end data governance processes.
  • Own governance forums, councils, and decision-making cadence.
  • Manage data governance KPIs reporting, and compliance tracking.
  • Coordinate regulatory, audit, and risk requirements for data management initiatives.
  • Run governance intake, prioritization, and escalation processes
  • Drive continuous improvement of data governance operating model.
  • Support enterprise change management and adoption.
  • Ensure data quality, ownership, metadata, and lineage are actively managed.
  • Drive adoption of data governance processes and standards across business and IT through data governance communication, socialization and training initiatives.
  • Measure and continuously improve data governance maturity.

  • Data Governance Operating Model & RACI.
  • Executive Dashboards & Reports for Data Governance Operations.
  • Data Governance Awareness Training & Socialization.
  • Data Governance Forum and Cadence (Steering Committee).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years in data governance, risk, compliance, or operations
  • Strong process design and operating model experience
  • Experience working with across business, IT, regulators, audit, or risk functions.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Proven experience implementing and operating enterprise data governance programs.
  • Strong understanding of Data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, COBIT).
  • Hands-on experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms and modern data architectures
