Role Purpose

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Litigation is responsible for managing and overseeing all litigation and dispute resolution matters involving the company. This includes advising on legal strategies, coordinating with external counsel, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and protecting the company’s interests in all legal proceedings.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Litigation Management:

  1. Oversee all ongoing litigation and dispute resolution cases, ensuring effective management and timely resolution.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to minimize litigation risks and protect the company's legal interests.
  3. Coordinate with external counsel, monitor their performance, and manage legal budgets related to litigation.
  4. Review and approve pleadings, submissions, and other legal documents prepared for court or arbitration proceedings.

Advisory & Risk Mitigation:

  1. Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on potential litigation risks and strategies to mitigate them.
  2. Conduct risk assessments and recommend proactive measures to avoid disputes.
  3. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure contractual terms, policies, and business practices minimize litigation exposure.

Regulatory Compliance:

  1. Ensure the company’s litigation activities comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal developments and inform internal teams of any potential impacts.

Documentation & Reporting:

  1. Maintain accurate and organized records of all litigation cases, including documentation, case histories, and outcomes.
  2. Prepare and present reports to senior management on the status of significant litigation matters and associated risks.

Leadership & Team Development:

  1. Lead and mentor junior legal team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of litigation strategies with business objectives.

 

Qualification

  • Education & Experience: Minimum Bachelor of Law Degree (SH).
  • At least 7 years’ experience as a corporate/litigation lawyer and/or in-house counsel, preferably in multinational companies or publicly listed corporations.
  • Strong background in handling litigation cases, including court proceedings, arbitration, and mediation, with a preference for candidates familiar with the telecommunications industry.

Technical Expertise:

  • Extensive knowledge of civil law, criminal law, administrative law, economic law, telecommunications law, labor law, and consumer protection law.
  • Proven ability to lead non-litigation dispute resolution initiatives, including mediation and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated success in managing high-stakes and complex legal disputes.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to provide actionable legal solutions.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

 

Licenses & Certification:

  • Qualified to practice law in Indonesia (member of PERADI).
  • Relevant certifications or training in litigation, arbitration, or dispute resolution are a plus.

 

Leadership Qualities:

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of legal professionals.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with senior management and external counsel.
  • High integrity, resilience, and the ability to manage multiple cases under tight deadlines.
